Diwali Delight

Just a day more to go for Diwali. This is one of the most awaited festival among all others. Diwali is all about getting ready, decorating houses, lights, crackers and the most important the ‘Mithai’.

Either you visit at someone’s home or someone else visits at your home Mithai are the must to be served on this auspicious day of Diwali. ‘Mithai’ plays an important role in Hindu festivals.

In my today’s blog, I have listed few of my favorite Mithai that I am going to gulp down this Diwali because calories don’t count this festive season. 😀

  1. Rasgulla

Water in my mouth already!!! Rasgullas are my most favorite sweet dish on planet. I have the capacity of eating 1 kg in a go. Opss!! yeah I know! 😀

It is called by various names depending upon the region like Rasagulla, Rossogolla, Roshogolla, Rasagola, Rasagolla, Rasbhari or Rasbari.

Serving Temperature: As per the taste but highly preferred to serve cold for the best taste.

Main Ingredients: Chhena and Sugar

  1. Gulab Jamun

Gulab Jamun is quite a popular sweet dish in India.

It is called by different names in different regions like Gulab Jaman in Northern India/Pakistan, Lal Mohan North India/Nepal, Gulabjam or Gulapjam Eastern India/Bangladesh and Doughnut holes in sugar water North America.

Serving Temperature: Hot, Cold or room temperature. Hot Gulab Jamun can be served with a brownie or vanilla ice-cream.

Main Ingredients: Khoa and Saffron

  1. Laddu 

The most popular sweet dish. This is one the most traditional desert in India. They are prepared or purchased for eating or distributing among the relatives during the most auspicious festivals or weddings. Indian weddings are incomplete without Laddo.

There are various kinds of laddu available. Like Boondi Ladu, Besan laddo, Coconut Ladu and many more. the most famous and preferred laddos are Motichur Ke Laddu, besan ke laddu and Bondi ke laddu.

Serving Temperature: Room Temperature.

Main Ingredients: Floor, Milk and sugar

  1. Barfi

Barfi is again a popular traditional sweet not just in India but worldwide. There are various varieties of Barfi are available in the market. Among them the most famous are Plain Barfi, Besan ki Barfi, Kaju ki barfi also known as Kaju katli, Piste Ki barfi and these days’ chocolate ki barfi is getting popular.

Serving Temperature: Cold

Main Ingredients:  Condensed Milk and Sugar
